Da'vida, the "giving of life", or "the life of giving" reflects the basic philosophy of Da'vida, that of receiving a gift, and then passing that gift along to others.
Da'vida is formed by volunteers, and we opperate as a fundation directed by a board. All of our profits go to Third World countries. We are currently supporting several groups of women in Bolivia and Peru. These women are working very hard to create employment for themselves in rural areas as well as in urban areas. All the products presented in our website, except the yarn, are made by them. In addition, we also have recently published a bilingual book and all the profits are donated to children in third world countries to support their education. We are also very dedicated to the women in our immediate area in Up State New York who need a source of income. The yarn presented here is painted by hand locally in order to provide employment to local women from Up State New York who live and run farms or are unemployed. The yarn comes originally from Uruguay, Bolivia and Peru and it is 100% wool, or 100% alpaca.
Da'vida is an entity that resembles a telephone switchboard. Our goal is to establish connections between people far away and people closeby, to provide educational opportunities to the two colleges that we have in our community, and to raise awareness about the impact of economic issues both abroad and at home. Since Da'vida is located in an empoverished rural area in up State New York, we work very hard to bring to light the difficulties of poverty both far and close.
We have been opperating now for more than tree years, and in those three years the number of volunteers involved in a common vision has increased bringing more hope and beuty to our dream. We hope to share this dream for a better world with you.
